About My Art:
I never wanted to be an artist. I never consider what I did to be art. I had a teacher that once said that you can tell a lot about society about how they view artists. When the time are good, people love artists, and when they're bad, people see them as useless. I grew up in Guyana, South America, and I didn't grow up around any artists, in fact, I think if anyone said they wanted to be an artists, it would only be of the starving kind. Growing up, art never played any role in my life, and so even though I loved drawing...it was seen (by myself) as just a hobby, not really something I could do seriously.
A lot of people will tell me that I'm good, but I really don't see it. I think most people like my work, not because of how well I can draw, but mostly because they relate to what I'm drawing.
I think my real talent lies in my ability to tell stories, to
picture things that convey a certain emotion. Most artists
will tell you that they want to do something original, but
not me, I know there's no such thing as an original idea.
